Have a few answers ready and the call takes ninety seconds: what the pest looked like, where you saw it, and whether there was anything with it, a mud tube, a mound, sawdust, droppings, or a swarm at a light.
What to have ready
- The pest, described plainly. Size, colour, wings or no wings, and how many you have seen.
- The location. Slab edge, kitchen, attic, yard, patio, under the eave.
- Anything with it. A pencil-width mud tube means termites; a fresh mound after rain means fire ants; a pile of identical dropped wings means a termite swarm.
- How long it has been going on. This changes the treatment more than anything else you can tell us.
- The property. Single story or two story, and whether it is a home, a rental, or a business.

A wasp or hornet nest beside a front door or a play area, a rodent in a living space, or an active termite swarm all get moved up. Call rather than wait. If anyone on the property has a known sting allergy, do not attempt a nest yourself.
